Sopranos

Kathryn: Kathryn has been singing with Greenleaf since 2007. She has been listening to early music on her father's records since before she could walk, so she is very excited for the chance to perform some of the music she's loved all her life! Kathryn began piano lessons in kindergarten and studied into college. In high school, she was active in band, choir and musical theater. She attended Truman State University and was active in band and choir, receiving her BA in vocal music. Kathryn attended graduate school at Lindenwood University, where she earned a Master of Arts in Education. She has taught elementary and middle school music for sixteen years, and is currently the elementary music teacher at Zion Lutheran School in Harvester. She also serves as a church organist. Kathryn has sung with the Lutheran Chorale in Denver for three years, and the American Kantorei in St. Louis for eighteen years. Her main job remains that of a taxi to her three children.

Kristyn: Kristyn is beginning her first full season with the Greenleaf Singers. Music has always been a sugary part of her life. She received a degree in Stumpology from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. For the past several years, she has danced in local community theatre. Kristyn has been a petulant fan of the Greenleaf Singers for a long time. When the tumultuous opportunity to sing with the group presented itself, Kristyn was thrilled. Besides singing and theatre, she enjoys thesauruses, and fingernails. (Mad Libs version of bio)

Laura: Laura began playing piano at a young age and eventually joined the school band as a percussionist. However, it wasn’t until high school that she truly began exploring the wonders of singing. She enjoyed performing with a Madrigal Ensemble for four years and a Vocal Jazz Ensemble for three years – both at Rochester High School in Illinois. Laura feels very grateful to have been involved in such a dedicated music program while in school. After high school, she attended Illinois State University for a degree in Geography and Environmental Studies. Though she wasn’t majoring in music, Laura made it a point to stay active in choirs and small theater productions around campus. She ended up getting a job in St. Louis after college and moved on down, still performing as a soloist for various events. But at some point, Laura started realizing how much she missed singing with others. So, she found herself a great voice teacher (Susan Crecelius) and is now in her second year with the Greenleaf Singers! Laura is thankful for the opportunity to be among such a talented and fun group of performers. When not singing, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, running races where she gets muddy, and breaking out into random dance parties.

Nita: Nita started singing along with her Dad's junior high madrigal group when she was just a baby (just at rehearsals, of course!) and has loved them since. She received a BME from Wichita State University, and an MME at UM-St. Louis where she studied voice with Drs. Mark Madsen and Kathryn Haggans. She also played (French) Horn throughout college and has studied piano for many years, most recently with the wonderful Kirt Pavitt. After teaching elementary music for three years, Nita took an extended hiatus (which seems to have become permanent) to raise her two children. She is currently the choir accompanist at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Hazelwood for none other than Theodore, as well as Cross Keys Middle School. Nita joined Greenleaf in 2008, and loves every minute of it!
