Choral Artistic Director Position
St. Louis based Renaissance ensemble, Greenleaf Singers, is seeking an enthusiastic and talented Artistic Director to lead this dynamic group, with the possibility of performing as a member of the ensemble. Greenleaf Singers endeavor to strike a balance between musical excellence, camaraderie, and fun.
Our ideal candidate has a background in choral directing with a working knowledge specifically of the Renaissance era.
Typical Performance Schedule:
Three weekends at St. Louis Renaissance Festival (Mid-September thru Early October)
Annual Eliot Chapel Madrigal Rout (Kirkwood, week following Thanksgiving)
Christmas Concert (2nd Friday in December)
Spring Performance (Date TBD)
Occasional "extra" performances at discretion of group/A.D.
Responsibilities:
Coordinate and lead one rehearsal per week prior to performance dates (Tuesday evenings, approximately twelve rehearsals in fall, six in spring)
Correspond with venue and/or event leaders to coordinate performance details
Choose and prepare repertoire for each season
Knowledge and Experience:
Appropriate experience directing a capella choral ensembles, preferably at college level or higher
Broad knowledge of both secular and sacred music of the Renaissance era, including accepted performance practices
Extensive knowledge of vocal and choral pedagogy as applies to small ensembles of this nature
Foreign language diction, with knowledge of IPA a definite plus
Piano proficiency also a definite plus!
